Rug Care/Maintenance

-       Regular Vacuuming: Vacuuming at least once a week helps remove dirt, dust, and debris, preventing them from settling deep into the carpet fibres. Avoid heavy suction vacuums especially with harsh/rough power heads with stiff bristles to avoid damage to the carpet pile.

-       Immediate Stain Removal: Promptly address spills and stains to prevent them from setting in. Blot the stain with a clean cloth or paper towel gently cleaning the stain and carpet material. Never apply pressure while cleaning tough stains and seek professional advice on such stains.

-       Professional Cleaning: Schedule professional carpet in accordance with AS/NZS 3733:1995 to deep clean and remove embedded dirt and allergens.

-       Use Doormats: Place doormats at entry points to trap dirt and prevent it from being tracked onto the carpet area. Ensure the carpet dries completely after such process.

-       Rotate Furniture: Periodically move heavy furniture to prevent uneven wear on the carpet fibres.

-       Avoid Moisture: Prevent exposure to moisture as it can lead to mould (a superficial often woolly growth produced especially on damp or decaying organic matter; or a fungus that produces mould) and mildew growth. Use caution when getting professional cleaning and ensure the carpet dries completely after such process.

-       Trim Pet's Nails: Keep pets' nails trimmed to prevent them from snagging or damaging the carpet fibres.

-       Regular Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections for signs of wear, matting, or damage, and address any issues promptly to prevent further deterioration.

-       Follow Manufacturer's Guidelines: Always stick to the manufacturer's directions for professional cleaning and maintenance to ensure the longevity and appearance of your carpet.

-       Sunlight and Fading: Placing carpet in direct and continuous sunlight will cause the carpet to fade. Any curtains, drapes, or blinds should be shut, when possible, to protect your carpet. When placed near an area with continuous sunlight, fading will occur slowly over time, and such bleaching effect will permanently damage your carpet. It occurs more obviously with darker coloured carpets.
